Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!  I realize that there are very few, if any, men that follow my blog, however, I did want to say something to all the Father's and parents in general.

I want to thank all of you engaged Dad's.  Those of you, who take the time to listen to your children, instead of treating them like they are a bother.  Those of you that keep your voice calm, instead of yelling, no matter the situation.  Those who, when needed, will discipline to show them the right path.

It is our job, as parents, to train our children in the way they should go.  That does not mean yell, shame or ignore. - It means to lead and discipline.  Don't get me wrong, I am not saying doing the right thing is always easy or convenient, but it is necessary if we are to bring up children that respect us.

Children respect discipline, not punishment!  For instance, a toddler is smart, but is not able to reason.  If you have told them not to stand on the couch, and they do it anyway, you spank them, not take away a toy!  Spanking is not a problem - getting mad (grabbing and beating) is.  Once you spank a child you tell them you love them and move on.  We don't bring up that wrong doing again, each instance is an individual discipline.

Well, I really wanted to say thank you to all the good Dad's out there and let the rest know that you are needed.  Us mother's and the children need you to step up to the plate and do what you are meant to do, LEAD!  Be the example, God gives you the power to be.  He is with you all the way!  He will not leave you hanging!  God loves you!  Do it by faith - no offense, but you are not good enough to do it by yourself.  None of us are.

Here is something I found, that may help Dad's keep perspective...

A Godly Father

A Godly father loves his child
More than words could ever say,
For his heart is like the Shepherd’s
As he leads the righteous way.
He knows he shall give an account
To his Lord above one day
For the way he molds that life he holds…
As a yielded piece of clay.

With tender loving care, he trains,
Not sparing his shepherd’s rod,
While praying each and every day
For a closer walk with God;
For he knows his child learns much more
By the example he sees,
Than what he is told by one grown cold…
And instructions he receives.

A Godly father knows his days
Are limited with this clay;
While it’s still soft and pliable,
He must form it in God’s way;
And when he departs for glory,
He’ll leave clear footprints behind
For his child to trace and find his place…
In Christ’s great kingdom sublime.
“Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world”
“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old,
he will not depart from it.”
(Tit 2:12; Prov 22:6)

God bless you all!
